About the Group as an Employer
Qatar Airways Group is the state-owned aviation group based in Doha. It is more than an airline: the Group’s official listings include Hamad International Airport, Qatar Executive (private jet operations), Qatar Duty Free, Qatar Airways Cargo, Internal Media Services and its Design Organisation, alongside other divisions listed on the Group companies page. The careers site’s own “Get to know us” page also lists Qatar Aviation Services, the sole ground services provider for international airport operations in Qatar, and Qatar Aircraft Catering Company, which prepares inflight meals for Qatar Airways and partner airlines.
The distinction matters in practice. A retail role at Qatar Duty Free, a warehouse role in cargo, and a corporate finance role all sit under the same Group but involve different work, different requirements and separate vacancies. When people say “I want to work for Qatar Airways,” they often mean cabin crew, but the majority of Group jobs are ground-based.
The airline states it has been named World’s Best Airline eight times by Skytrax.
Al Darb is the Group’s Qatarisation program, described as a model to empower and develop Qatari national talent with opportunities for growth and global exposure. Some positions are directed toward Qatari nationals through this program.
Not every division is hiring at any given time. Recruitment follows operational need, and a division that was hiring last month may not be today.
Qatar Airways Jobs by Department
The categories below describe the kinds of roles the Group employs. None should be read as currently open. Check the portal for live vacancies.
Cabin Crew and Cabin Services
Cabin crew deliver onboard safety and service across the network, based in Doha. Duties include safety procedures, emergency preparedness, meal and beverage service, and passenger care across long-haul and regional routes.
Prior aviation experience is not required. The airline provides training aligned with international aviation standards. What is required is the published eligibility criteria (see the requirements section below) and the ability to relocate to Doha.
Suits: candidates comfortable with irregular schedules, time away from home, and working in a highly multicultural team.
Pilots and Flight Operations
Includes first officers, captains and flight operations support staff. Pilot roles require type ratings, licenses and flying hours specified in each individual vacancy. These are strict, non-negotiable and vary by fleet.
Suits: licensed commercial pilots meeting the exact hour and rating requirements posted.
Some entry-level operational positions accept limited experience; supervisory and specialist roles require relevant background. Physical fitness and shift availability matter for ramp and warehouse work.
Suits: candidates seeking operational aviation work without flying, including those wanting a route into the industry.
Customer Service and Contact Center Jobs
Airport customer service agents, check-in and gate staff, ticketing agents, lounge staff and contact center agents. Not every contact center job is in Doha: when we checked the portal in October 2026, it listed customer contact center agent roles in Wroclaw, Poland, for Italian or Spanish speakers.
Strong English is essential; additional languages are frequently valuable. Customer service experience, including from hospitality or retail, is often relevant even without aviation background.
Suits: people with service experience who communicate well under pressure.
These roles require formal technical qualifications and, in most cases, aircraft-type licenses or approvals. Requirements are specified precisely in each vacancy and are not flexible. The engineering careers section below explains the license categories and how the career ladder works.
Retail sales associates, supervisors, visual merchandisers, stock and warehouse staff, and food and beverage roles across the airport’s retail operation.
Retail positions are among the more accessible for candidates with limited aviation experience, though retail or hospitality background is usually expected. Shift work is standard given 24-hour airport operations.
Suits: retail and hospitality professionals, and candidates seeking entry into airport employment.
Catering, Hospitality and Hotel Roles
Airline catering, lounge hospitality and hotel operations within the Group cover chefs, kitchen staff, food safety officers, lounge attendants and hotel service roles.
Culinary and hospitality qualifications are usually expected for skilled positions; food handling certification is commonly required.
Suits: hospitality and culinary professionals.
IT, Digital and Cybersecurity Careers
Software engineers, systems and network specialists, data analysts, cybersecurity professionals, ERP specialists and digital product roles supporting a large international operation.
A relevant degree and demonstrable technical experience are generally expected. Aviation systems experience is an advantage but not always mandatory.
Suits: technology professionals seeking large-scale enterprise work. Technology roles are also expanding across Qatar more broadly, and our guide to the most in-demand jobs in Qatar covers that wider picture.
Finance, HR, Marketing and Administration
Accountants, financial analysts, internal auditors, HR and recruitment specialists, marketing and communications staff, procurement officers and administrative support.
Relevant degrees are standard; professional qualifications such as ACCA, CPA or CIPD make applications noticeably stronger.
Suits: corporate professionals, including those from outside aviation.
Graduate Programs and Internships
The Group runs structured development programs, including the Al Darb Qatarisation program for Qatari nationals. Graduate and internship opportunities appear periodically rather than continuously, and eligibility conditions (including nationality requirements for some programs) are set out in each posting.
Suits: recent graduates. Check the portal regularly, as intakes are time-limited.
Engineering Careers and Career Paths
Engineering careers at Qatar Airways sit mainly in the Technical Engineering division in Doha, which covers line, light and heavy maintenance. The core certifying job is the Licensed Aircraft Engineer, advertised in B1 (mechanical) and B2 (avionics) categories. Every engineering posting we checked asked for a license on a Qatar Airways main fleet type.
What the vacancies ask for. Licensed Aircraft Engineer postings listed under the Engineering job family in October 2026 required a diploma in aircraft maintenance or a degree in aircraft engineering, with at least 5 years of job-related experience for diploma holders or 4 years for degree holders. They also required at least one full ICAO/QCAA license and approvals on a main fleet type. The QCAA is the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority.
How the ladder works. The same postings show the structure of a Qatar Airways career in engineering. Licensed engineers give the final release on completed work and supervise teams of aircraft mechanics and technical assistants. In practice, that points to a path from mechanic or technician, to licensed B1 or B2 engineer, to supervisory and management roles. Senior posts, such as Vice President of Technical & Engineering, are also advertised on the portal.
Compared with other major airlines. B1 and B2 are the same license categories used under EASA Part-66 in Europe, so the technical skills carry over between carriers. The difference is the paperwork. Qatar Airways asks for an ICAO/QCAA license on its own main fleet types, so if you hold an EASA, FAA or other national license, read the vacancy wording closely and check how the QCAA treats your license before applying. Engineering pay grades are not published (see the salary table below).
Qatar Airways Salary in 2026
Read this first. Qatar Airways does not publish a public salary scale covering every position. Any figure you see online, including those below, is an estimate from third-party sources, not an official airline figure.
Actual pay depends on the position, internal grade, experience, location, flying hours where applicable, allowances, and the terms of your individual employment contract.
Salaries are paid in Qatari riyals. For Doha-based jobs, pay is quoted and paid in QAR. Qatar’s Labour Law (Article 66, as amended by Law No. 1 of 2015) requires wages to be paid in Qatari currency into an account in the employee’s name at a bank in Qatar. The riyal is pegged at 3.64 to the US dollar, so give any salary expectation as a monthly QAR figure. Roles based outside Qatar follow the local terms written into the offer.
A specific caution about cabin crew figures. Third-party sources disagree substantially on the components of cabin crew pay. Reported basic salary figures range from roughly QAR 3,300 to QAR 4,600 per month, and reported flying-hour rates range from about QAR 39 to QAR 60 per block hour. Reported average monthly flying hours vary from 65 to 100. Those component figures cannot be reconciled, so treat any breakdown you read with caution, wherever it appears. There is broader agreement on approximate total monthly earnings, which is what the table reflects.

We have deliberately left most rows unquantified. Publishing invented ranges to look complete would mislead you at exactly the point where accuracy matters most. For those roles, compensation is normally disclosed during the recruitment process or in the employment offer.
Customer service agent salary in Doha. Qatar Airways does not publish pay for customer service or airport agent grades, and we found no consistent 2026 data worth quoting. For broad context only, Qatar’s National Planning Council puts the 2025 average monthly wage across the whole transportation and storage sector at QAR 12,403. That sector average includes pilots, engineers and managers, so treat it as an estimate of the sector, not of frontline agent pay. Your offer letter states the actual grade and package.
How cabin crew pay is structured. It typically combines a fixed basic salary, pay per block hour flown, and layover allowances for overnight stays away from base. Because two of the three components vary with your roster, monthly earnings fluctuate.
Pilot pay varies significantly by aircraft type, rank and experience, and is discussed during recruitment.
On tax: Qatar does not levy personal income tax on employment income. However, your home country may still tax your worldwide income depending on its rules and your tax residency. Check your own position rather than assuming the full figure is yours to keep.
To see how aviation pay compares with other industries and experience levels, see our average salary in Qatar guide.
Employee Benefits and Perks
Benefits depend on the position and contract. Not every benefit applies to every employee.
For cabin crew specifically, the airline’s official recruitment page lists:
Fully furnished accommodation in Doha
International Medical Insurance Plan
Company transportation while on duty
Discounted travel benefits for self, friends and family
Retail, dining and lifestyle discounts worldwide
Working within a culturally diverse team
For other roles, benefits may include staff travel privileges, medical coverage, accommodation or housing support for eligible positions, company transportation for eligible roles, annual leave, training and career development, relocation assistance where included in the offer, and end-of-service benefits under applicable terms.
Do not assume any of these apply to you. Confirm each item in your written offer. Accommodation in particular is a standard cabin crew benefit but is not automatically provided across all Group positions.
General Job Requirements
Requirements vary by vacancy, and the posting is authoritative. Common expectations across roles:
Educational qualifications. Ranging from a high school certificate for some operational and service roles to degrees and professional certifications for technical and corporate positions.
Relevant work experience. Specified per vacancy. Some roles accept fresh candidates; most technical and senior roles do not.
English communication. Consistently important across the Group given the international operation.
Technical or professional certifications. Mandatory where stated: aircraft licenses, accounting qualifications, IT certifications and similar.
Customer-service skills. Central to crew, airport, retail and hospitality roles.
Medical and fitness standards. Operational roles involve medical assessment. Cabin crew and pilots have specific health requirements.
Passport and relocation readiness. Most Doha-based roles require relocation and a valid passport.
Background and document verification. Employment history, qualifications and background checks form part of the process. Some roles ask for a Police Clearance Certificate as part of this verification.
Qatar Airways Cabin Crew Requirements
These are the criteria published on the airline’s official cabin crew recruitment page, checked on 22 August 2026:
Minimum age of 21
Minimum arm reach of 212 cm
High School Certificate
Fluent in English (written and spoken)
Excellent health and fitness
Ability to relocate to Doha, Qatar
The airline also lists desired attributes: exceptional interpersonal skills, and a passion for service with the ability to work as part of a multicultural team.
On arm reach: this is a safety requirement, because crew must reach emergency equipment stowed in overhead compartments. It is measured during assessment and is not negotiable.
The official guidance is to submit your application online to the vacancy nearest your current location.
For recruitment day, the airline asks candidates to bring their CV in English featuring their applicant ID, a passport-sized photograph, and a copy of the invitation. Formal business attire is specified.
The official cabin crew recruitment page also lists upcoming recruitment events. These rotate frequently, so check the official page for current events and locations rather than relying on any published list.
Can Freshers Apply for Qatar Airways Jobs?
Yes, for some positions.
Roles that more commonly accept limited experience include cabin crew (no prior aviation experience required, though the published criteria still apply), entry-level retail positions at Qatar Duty Free, some airport ground operations and customer service roles, catering and hospitality support roles, and graduate programs and internships where offered.
Roles that generally do not include licensed engineering and maintenance, pilots, specialist IT positions, senior finance, and managerial posts.
Read the individual vacancy. “Entry-level” at an airline still carries specific requirements, and applying for roles you clearly do not qualify for wastes your time and weakens your record with the recruiter.
Can Foreigners Apply for Qatar Airways Careers?
Yes. Qatar Airways recruits internationally and holds cabin crew recruitment events across multiple countries and regions.
What to understand before you apply:
Relocation. Most Group roles are based in Doha and require you to move there. Cabin crew must be able to relocate to Doha.
Work authorization. Employment in Qatar requires appropriate work authorization, which is arranged through employer-sponsored procedures where applicable. Our Qatar work visa guide explains how an employer-sponsored entry permit and residence permit fit together. We cannot guarantee visa sponsorship for any role. Final terms depend on the specific vacancy and the employment offer you receive.
Medical checks and verification. Expect medical assessment for operational roles, plus document and background verification.
Role-specific restrictions. Some positions, particularly under the Al Darb Qatarisation program, are directed toward Qatari nationals. Certain outstation roles may require local work eligibility in that country.
Nothing about applying guarantees employment. The airline receives very high application volumes for visible roles such as cabin crew.
Relocating to Doha for an Aviation Job: Step by Step
Relocating to Doha for an aviation job starts only after you hold a written offer. Your employer sponsors the work visa, so you cannot start the process alone. You then complete medical, biometric and residence steps in a fixed order. The airline does not publish a standard relocation timeline, so follow the instructions in your offer pack.
Accept the written offer and check the package: basic salary, allowances, accommodation and joining date, all stated in QAR. Once you are in Qatar, you can also verify your employment contract through the Ministry of Labour.
Wait for your employer to apply for your entry permit. This is the work visa, and it is filed by the employer, not by you.
Complete biometrics and a medical screening if instructed, commonly at a Qatar Visa Center appointment in your home country.
Prepare your documents: valid passport, education and experience certificates (attested if the role requires it), professional licenses, and a police clearance certificate if requested.
Travel to Doha on the entry permit issued for your job.
Complete the in-country medical checkup within 30 days of arrival, then fingerprinting. The Ministry of Interior requires this order for residence visa holders, and the Medical Commission process covers the test itself.
Receive your Qatar ID (QID) once your residence permit is issued.
Open a local bank account, because wages must be paid into an account at a bank in Qatar. Many expats then use a bank or exchange house to send money home from Qatar.
Settle your housing. Cabin crew receive fully furnished company accommodation. For other roles, check what your offer includes before signing a lease.

Valid passport
Recent professional photograph, when requested
Education certificates

Professional licenses or technical certifications, where the role requires them
Identification documents
References, where requested
Upload only what the official vacancy asks for. Do not send financial information, bank details or copies of documents to anyone outside the official application system.
How to Prepare Your CV
Match your experience to the job description. Use the vacancy’s own terminology where it honestly describes what you have done. A CV that mirrors the requirements is far easier to shortlist.
Use a clean, ATS-readable format. Applicant tracking systems parse text, not design. Standard headings, no tables, no text inside images, no unusual fonts. Save as PDF unless told otherwise.
Add measurable achievements. “Handled 120+ passenger check-ins per shift” tells a recruiter more than “responsible for check-in.”
Highlight aviation, hospitality or customer-service experience prominently, even if it was not your most recent role.
Mention languages and relevant certifications, including proficiency levels.
Never include false information. Qualifications and employment history are verified. A discovered falsehood ends the application and can affect future ones.
Proofread your contact details. An incorrect email or phone number is a surprisingly common reason candidates never hear back.
Keep it concise. One to two pages is typical.
For cabin crew recruitment days, the airline asks for your CV in English with your applicant ID included.
The Recruitment Process, Stage by Stage
Stages vary by role and not every step applies to every position. A typical sequence:
Online application through the official portal
Initial screening against the mandatory requirements
Assessment or recruitment event, used particularly for cabin crew
Interview, which may be virtual or in person, and may involve multiple rounds
Technical assessment, where applicable to the role
Medical or fitness checks for operational positions
Background and document verification
Conditional offer and onboarding
Timelines vary considerably. Some processes conclude in weeks; others take substantially longer. The airline does not publish a standard duration, and anyone promising you a guaranteed timeline is not speaking for the airline.
Common Reasons Applications Get Rejected
Not meeting a mandatory qualification. Published criteria such as the cabin crew arm reach and minimum age are applied strictly.
Using one generic CV for every role. Easily spotted and rarely shortlisted.
Incomplete application. Missing fields or documents can end it automatically.
Incorrect contact details. You will not be reachable.
Applying after the closing date.
A poorly presented CV that an ATS cannot parse.
False qualifications or experience, which verification uncovers.
Not following role-specific instructions, such as required attachments or applicant ID details.
How to Avoid Fake Qatar Airways Job Offers
Aviation jobs attract a high volume of recruitment fraud, and Qatar Airways is one of the most frequently impersonated employers in the region.
⚠️ Protect yourself
Apply only through the official careers domain, careers.qatarairways.com. Bookmark it and type it yourself.
Be cautious of unsolicited WhatsApp, Telegram or social-media offers. The airline does not recruit by cold-messaging candidates.
Never pay an agent for a guaranteed position. Qatar Airways does not charge applicants a recruitment fee through its official process. Any demand for payment is a warning sign.
Verify the sender’s email domain. Check for free email providers, subtle misspellings and lookalike domains.
Do not share banking information as part of a job application.
Check the vacancy reference on the official portal. If the job does not exist there, it does not exist.
Be wary of an offer without any interview. Legitimate hiring includes assessment.
If you have already paid someone, stop further payments, keep all correspondence, and report it to your local authorities.
QatarVia is an independent informational website and does not recruit for Qatar Airways. We never request your documents, payment or personal information.

☐ I have the required documents ready, and only those requested
☐ I am applying on careers.qatarairways.com, not a third-party site
☐ The vacancy is still open and within its closing date
☐ I have not been asked to pay anything, and would refuse if asked
☐ I have reviewed the full application before submitting
☐ I know I must monitor my email and candidate account for updates
Final Thoughts
Qatar Airways Group employment covers far more than cabin crew, and candidates who look only at the visible flying roles miss most of the opportunity. Ground operations, cargo, retail, catering, engineering, IT and corporate functions together account for the majority of Group positions.
For any role, work from the official careers portal and the specific vacancy text. Requirements differ a great deal between positions, and details published anywhere else, including here, can fall out of date between the airline updating its pages and you reading about it.
Two things are worth repeating. Confirm every requirement for the exact position before applying, because published criteria are applied strictly. And never pay anyone for access to a Qatar Airways job. The official process is free, and any request for money is a reliable sign of fraud.

What is the minimum qualification for Qatar Airways careers?
It depends entirely on the role. Cabin crew requires a High School Certificate. Operational and retail roles may accept school-level qualifications with relevant experience. Technical, IT, finance and managerial positions typically require a relevant degree or professional certification. The individual vacancy is the authority.
Can freshers apply for Qatar Airways jobs?
Yes, for some positions. Cabin crew requires no prior aviation experience, and some retail, catering, customer service and ground operations roles accept limited experience. Graduate programs and internships appear periodically. Licensed engineering, pilot and senior corporate roles require established experience.
What is the salary of Qatar Airways cabin crew?
Qatar Airways does not publish an official cabin crew salary. Third-party estimates suggest new joiners earn roughly QAR 8,000 to 11,000 per month in total, combining basic pay, flying-hour pay and layover allowances, with senior crew reported higher. Sources disagree on the individual components, so treat all figures as indicative.
What currency are Qatar Airways salaries paid in?
Doha-based salaries are paid in Qatari riyals (QAR). Qatar’s Labour Law (Article 66, as amended by Law No. 1 of 2015) requires wages to be paid in Qatari currency into the employee’s account at a bank in Qatar. The riyal is pegged at 3.64 to the US dollar, so state salary expectations as a monthly QAR figure. Roles based outside Qatar follow the local contract terms.
How much does a Qatar Airways customer service agent earn in Doha?
Qatar Airways does not publish customer service agent pay, and there is no consistent public data for 2026. As a broad estimate only, Qatar’s National Planning Council puts the 2025 average monthly wage for the whole transportation and storage sector at QAR 12,403, but that includes pilots, engineers and managers. The actual grade and package appear in your offer letter.
Does Qatar Airways provide accommodation?
The official cabin crew recruitment page lists fully furnished accommodation in Doha as a cabin crew benefit. For other positions, accommodation or housing support may be provided depending on the role and contract. It is not automatic across the Group. Confirm it in your written offer.
Can foreigners apply for Qatar Airways jobs?
Yes. The airline recruits internationally and holds cabin crew recruitment events in multiple countries. Most Group roles are Doha-based and require relocation. Work authorization is arranged through employer-sponsored procedures where applicable, but sponsorship cannot be guaranteed and depends on the vacancy and offer.
Does Qatar Airways charge a recruitment fee?
No. Qatar Airways does not charge applicants a recruitment fee through its legitimate official hiring process. Anyone requesting payment for a job, an interview, a guaranteed placement or visa processing is not acting for the airline. Do not pay, and verify the vacancy on the official portal.
How long does the Qatar Airways recruitment process take?
There is no published standard timeline, and it varies widely by role and stage. Some candidates progress within weeks; others wait considerably longer, particularly where assessments, medical checks and verification are involved. Anyone guaranteeing a specific timeframe is not speaking on behalf of the airline.
Where can I find current Qatar Airways job openings?
Only at careers.qatarairways.com. Recruitment is ongoing across the Group but varies by division and operational need, and vacancies open and close continuously, so no third-party list (including this article) can show what is open today. The airline also lists cabin crew recruitment events periodically. If nothing suitable is open, the portal’s Talent Community lets you register for future openings.
How can I identify a fake Qatar Airways job offer?
Warning signs include a request for payment, an offer without any interview, contact from a free or lookalike email domain, unsolicited WhatsApp or social-media approaches, pressure to act urgently, requests for banking details, and a vacancy reference that does not appear on the official portal. Verify every offer at careers.qatarairways.com.
