How these rates work
The currency converters use the mid-market reference rate, published once a day from central-bank reference rates. It is a neutral benchmark, not the rate an exchange house will give you: Qatar exchange houses and banks set their own customer rates and fees, so compare the amount your family will actually receive before you send.
The gold rate is calculated from the live international spot price, converted at Qatar's fixed rate of USD 1 = QAR 3.64. Jewellers add making charges, so their quoted price will be higher.
