To check an accident report in Qatar, use the Ministry of Interior’s free Inquire about Traffic Reports service on the MOI website. Select Road Accident Report as the report type, then search either by the incident number or by the driver’s QID or the vehicle’s plate number, enter the verification code and click Search. No smart card login is needed.

This guide covers that MOI traffic accident report search in detail, plus the related steps most people need around it: printing the repair report for insurance, checking a car’s accident history before you buy it, reporting a minor accident through Metrash, and what to do about a hit-and-run.

You don't need a smart card for this lookup

Unlike many MOI e-services, the Traffic Reports inquiry doesn't require logging in with a smart card. It's a public search that just needs the accident's details and a verification code.

How to check an accident report in Qatar online

Open MOI’s Traffic Services page, select Traffic Reports, and choose Road Accident Report from the Report Type list. Search either by incident number or by driver number or plate number, enter the verification code and click Search. Hukoomi describes this service plainly: it “enables individuals to inquire about their traffic accidents and check their respective reports through the website of the Ministry of Interior.”

Here’s the process, matching the live MOI Traffic Reports form:

  1. Open MOI’s Traffic Services page (MOI Services, then Inquiries, then Traffic Services), which also lists Traffic Violations and Certificates Enquiry as separate tools, and select Traffic Reports.
  2. From the Report Type dropdown, choose Road Accident Report.
  3. Choose one of the two search methods available: by incident number, or by driver/plate number.
  4. Fill in the fields for whichever method you’re using (covered in detail below).
  5. Enter the verification code shown in the picture or play the audio version.
  6. Click Search to view the result.

There’s no fee for this inquiry, confirmed on Hukoomi’s service page for it. People also call it the MOI accident report check or the accident report MOI search; it is the same Traffic Reports service either way.

The live form gives you two separate ways to search, and you only need to fill in one of them, not both.

Searching by plate number

If you don’t have the incident number, the plate number route is the easiest accident check in Qatar. On the Traffic Reports form, select the Plate Number option under “Search By Driver Number or Plate Number.” This switches the form to show a vehicle type dropdown and a plate number field.

  1. Select Road Accident Report as the report type.
  2. Under the search section, choose the Plate Number option.
  3. Select the vehicle’s type from the list.
  4. Enter the plate number.
  5. Enter the verification code and click Search.

Searching by driver number (QID or visa number)

Choose the Driver’s Number option instead, which asks for the number itself and what kind of number it is. Most residents use their QID here.

  1. Select Road Accident Report as the report type.
  2. Under the search section, choose the Driver’s Number option.
  3. Enter the driver’s number.
  4. Select the number type: QID Number, Visa Number, or Other Number.
  5. Enter the verification code and click Search.

How to print a traffic accident report in Qatar

MOI’s own Traffic Services page describes its online services as a way to “print traffic accident reports for quick repair of damaged vehicles.” The search above lets you look up and view an accident’s details using the incident number, driver number, or plate number. If you specifically need the formal repair report for an insurer or repair shop, MOI has a separate, dedicated service for that.

It matters which one you actually need, because the two services work differently.

Request Vehicle Repair Report

Hukoomi describes this as a service to “submit a request to the General Directorate of Traffic at the Ministry of Interior (MOI) to issue a vehicle repair report and receive it by email.”

  1. Log in with your smart card to the MOI e-services portal.
  2. Select the transaction type: Personal, or Company Name for an authorized person.
  3. Click Traffic Services, then Vehicles, then choose Vehicle Repair Report.
  4. Select the vehicle, either from your full list or a specific one, and the system shows any registered accidents for it.
  5. Select the accident you need the repair report for.
  6. Review the email address the report will be sent to, then submit.

This one is delivered by email rather than as an instant download, and it requires a smart card and Metrash registration. It’s also free, and Hukoomi notes it’s processed immediately. If you have never signed in to a government service with a smart card, our guide to Tawtheeq and government sign-in explains where smart card login fits.

How to check car accident history in Qatar

To check a car’s accident history in Qatar, use MOI’s Inquire about Vehicle by Chassis Number service. The official Hukoomi listing says individuals and companies can use it to look up a vehicle’s details and its “registered accident statistics” with the chassis number. Expect a record of accidents registered against that car, not full copies of each report.

This is different from the Traffic Reports search above. Traffic Reports pulls up one accident at a time, and only when you already have the incident number, the driver’s number or the plate. The chassis number inquiry looks at the vehicle itself, which is what a used-car buyer needs. The chassis number is printed on the Istimara (registration card) and stamped on the car.

Using it when you buy a used car

Menu labels for this inquiry differ between the MOI website and the app, and several Qatar guides report that the Metrash version only lets you look up vehicles registered in your own name. We could not confirm that limit on an official page, but it is a good reason to plan around the seller: ask them to run the chassis number inquiry on their own Metrash or MOI account while you watch, and compare the chassis number on screen with the one on the car.

Only accidents that were reported and registered with the Traffic Department appear in MOI records. Damage that was repaired privately without a report will not show, so treat a clean MOI vehicle accident history as one check among several.

Pre-purchase checklist

  • Match the chassis number on the Istimara with the number stamped on the car before anything else.
  • Ask the seller to show you the chassis number inquiry result, including the count of registered accidents.
  • Run a Traffic Reports search by plate number to see whether any accident report is linked to that plate.
  • Run an MOI traffic violation check on the plate so you know what fines are outstanding before you agree a price.
  • Ask for the latest technical inspection result; our FAHES inspection guide explains how inspection reports work.
  • Check when the registration expires; our Istimara renewal guide covers what renewal involves.
  • Book an independent mechanical inspection at a workshop you choose, since it can find repairs that never reached an MOI record.

Accident reports in Metrash

Metrash’s role here is mainly on the reporting side, not for pulling up an existing printed report. Once a minor accident is filed and reviewed, MOI’s own guidance for that service directs both parties to the MOI website, using the accident number they’re sent by SMS, to access the insurance and repair reports, rather than retrieving the full report inside the app itself. For checking an existing report’s details and status, the Traffic Reports inquiry on the MOI website covered above is the confirmed route.

If the app gives you trouble at sign-in, our Metrash registration and OTP troubleshooting guide covers the common errors.

How to report a minor car accident in Qatar

This is a different task from checking an existing report, covered here because it’s closely related. Hukoomi’s Report Traffic Accident in Metrash service lets drivers file a minor accident online, and “saves the time of waiting the traffic car arrival and makes no need for both drivers to visit the Traffic Department in minor accidents.”

  1. Log in to the Metrash mobile app.
  2. Select Report Accident from the Traffic Services list.
  3. The app uses your phone’s location as the accident location, and shows the first driver’s QID automatically.
  4. Enter both vehicles’ plate numbers, both drivers’ QIDs, and both drivers’ mobile numbers.
  5. Agree to the legal responsibility statement, then tap Send to file the report.
  6. The app shows the report number, along with vehicle and insurance details for both parties.

Both drivers receive an SMS confirming the Traffic Department has received the report.

Photos are for the report, not for social media. In June 2026, MOI reminded drivers that a Metrash report can include the vehicle’s plate number and up to four photos of the scene, as long as passengers and other people involved are not photographed. Posting accident photos or videos on social media is prohibited and can bring a fine of up to QR10,000.

What happens after you submit

After a Metrash accident report is filed, a traffic investigator reviews it. What happens next depends on whether responsibility is clear:

  • If responsibility is clear: the investigator completes and registers the report. Both parties get an SMS telling them to print the insurance and repair reports through the MOI website, using the accident number from the SMS.
  • If the accident needs further investigation: the investigator marks it as incomplete, and both parties get an SMS asking them to go to the Traffic Department in person to finish the investigation.

Using the report for an insurance claim

Once a Metrash-filed accident is processed and responsibility is clear, the report and its accident number are what you use to retrieve the insurance and repair documentation through MOI’s services, either the general Traffic Reports inquiry or the dedicated Vehicle Repair Report request, which sends the formal repair report by email. From there, your insurance company handles the claim itself; MOI’s own service pages don’t describe insurer-specific paperwork, so confirm with your insurance provider whether they need anything beyond the accident number and the repair report.

Report not showing? What to check

MOI doesn’t publish an official list of rejection reasons for the Traffic Reports search, but a few practical checks are worth running through first:

  • Double check the incident serial number, department code, and year, since all three need to match exactly
  • If searching by plate, confirm you’ve selected the correct vehicle type, since the same plate number can exist under different vehicle categories
  • If searching by driver number, confirm you’ve selected the right number type: QID, Visa, or Other
  • Check the SMS you received when the accident was filed for the correct accident number, rather than re-typing it from memory
  • If the accident was recently filed and is still under investigation, it may not be finalized yet, since a report marked incomplete is still with the Traffic Department
  • If none of this resolves it, contact the General Administration of Traffic directly

Serious accidents and injuries

The Metrash accident-reporting service is explicitly built for minor accidents. It is not the process for accidents involving injuries or serious damage. Qatar’s general emergency number, 999, is the line to call when a situation needs police, ambulance, or immediate emergency attendance. For accidents that don’t clear investigation as straightforward through Metrash, MOI’s own guidance directs both parties to attend the Traffic Department in person to complete the investigation, rather than handling it entirely online.

Save the other numbers before you need them; our Qatar emergency numbers guide lists the ambulance, police and accessible 992 lines.

Hit-and-run: registering an accident against an unknown party

If your vehicle was damaged by a party you couldn’t identify, MOI has a dedicated service called Register an Accident against Unknown Party, which “enables individuals and establishments to register an accident report for their own vehicle(s) against an unknown party and attach photos of the damages online.”

  1. Log in to the MOI e-services portal using your smart card.
  2. Select Traffic Services, then Traffic Violations and Accidents, then Unknown Accident Registration.
  3. Enter the affected vehicle’s number and the accident information: damage details, date and time, and the location and a description of it.
  4. Attach photos of the vehicle and the damage.

This service is free and requires a smart card with e-government access enabled. If you’d rather have someone else register it on your behalf, MOI also offers an authorization version of the same service through Metrash.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I check an accident report in Qatar?

Use MOI's Inquire about Traffic Reports service on the MOI website. Select Road Accident Report as the report type, search using either the incident number or the driver's number or vehicle plate number, enter the verification code, and click Search. It's a free public search and doesn't require a smart card login.

Can I check an accident report by plate number or QID?

Yes. On the Traffic Reports form, choose Plate Number, select the vehicle type and enter the plate, or choose Driver's Number, enter the number and set the type to QID Number, Visa Number or Other Number. Then enter the verification code and search. A wrong vehicle type or number type is the usual reason nothing appears.

How do I print a traffic accident report in Qatar?

MOI's Traffic Services are set up to print traffic accident reports for quick repair of damaged vehicles. For the formal repair report an insurer or garage needs, use MOI's Request Vehicle Repair Report service, which emails the report after you select the vehicle and the accident. It requires a smart card and Metrash registration.

How do I get my accident report from Metrash?

Metrash is mainly used to file a minor accident report. Once it's processed, MOI's guidance is to retrieve the insurance and repair reports through the MOI website using the accident number sent by SMS, rather than through the Metrash app itself.

How do I report a minor car accident in Qatar?

Use the Report Accident option under Traffic Services in the Metrash app. Enter both vehicles' plate numbers, both drivers' QIDs and phone numbers, agree to the responsibility statement, and send. You can add up to four scene photos without photographing people. You'll receive a report number and an SMS confirmation.

How do I check a car's accident history in Qatar?

Use MOI's Inquire about Vehicle by Chassis Number service, which Hukoomi says shows a vehicle's details and its registered accident statistics. Take the chassis number from the Istimara and the car. If you are buying a used car, ask the seller to run the inquiry on their own account while you watch, and add an independent inspection.

Why is my accident report not showing, and how long does it take?

MOI doesn't publish a standard processing time. After a Metrash submission, a traffic investigator reviews it and you get an SMS once it's finalized or marked for further investigation. Check the incident number details or plate and driver number entries against your SMS. If it still doesn't appear, contact the General Administration of Traffic on 2344444.

Do I need an accident report for car insurance in Qatar?

MOI's process routes the accident number and repair report to both parties once an accident is processed, which is what's used to proceed with insurance and repair. Individual insurers may ask for additional documents, so confirm directly with your insurer.

Can I repair my car without an accident report, and how do I get repair approval?

MOI ties the vehicle repair report to a registered accident on file, so accident repairs and insurance claims need the accident filed and processed first. Then use MOI's Request Vehicle Repair Report service: log in with your smart card, go to Traffic Services, Vehicles, Vehicle Repair Report, select the vehicle and accident, and the report is emailed to you.

What should I do after a hit-and-run accident in Qatar?

Use MOI's Register an Accident against Unknown Party service. Log in with your smart card, go to Traffic Services, then Traffic Violations and Accidents, then Unknown Accident Registration, and submit the vehicle and damage details along with photos.
