Quick Answer

You no longer need a QDC Qatar appointment to shop. Since April 2025, both the Abu Hamour and Hotel Park stores accept permit holders during opening hours with no booking. An appointment is only required for the Permit Office at Abu Hamour, which handles new card collection, lost card replacement, adding a joint card holder, Review Officer visits and quota increase requests. Those are booked online through your profile at qdc.com.qa.

  1. Log in to your profile at www.qdc.com.qa with your registered email and password
  2. Select Permit Office and choose the service you need
  3. Pick an available date and time slot, then confirm
  4. Attend the Abu Hamour store on the day with your Qatar ID

If you are looking for a QDC Qatar appointment, start with the change most guides have not caught up with. Since April 2025, Qatar Distribution Company no longer asks you to book a slot to shop. Appointments now apply to one thing only: a visit to the Permit Office at Abu Hamour.

This guide covers how the system actually works in 2026, when an appointment is genuinely required, how to apply for or renew a permit, how to log in, what your monthly quota means, and where both stores are.

QDC Qatar Appointment Rules in 2026: What Changed

QDC announced on 14 April 2025 that appointments are no longer needed for store visits, under the heading "Shop at your convenience." The notice is still on the company's own updates page. The position today:

  • Shopping at either store: no appointment. Turn up during opening hours with your valid permit card.
  • Permit Office visits at Abu Hamour: appointment required, booked online.
  • Applying for a new permit: entirely online, no appointment.
  • Renewing a permit: entirely online, no appointment.

So the honest answer to "how do I book a QDC Qatar appointment" is that most people no longer need one.

What Is QDC Qatar?

Qatar Distribution Company, almost always shortened to QDC, is the only organisation authorised by the State of Qatar to import, distribute and sell alcohol and pork products. It runs two retail stores in Doha plus home delivery in selected zones.

You cannot walk in and buy. Access runs through a permit that QDC issues after checking your residency, your employer's confirmation of salary and housing, and your age. The permit arrives as a physical card, and that card is what gets you through the door.

There are two permits. The liquor permit covers alcohol and pork and carries a monthly spending quota. The speciality food only permit covers restricted food items, costs nothing, and has no quota.

QDC Qatar Appointment System Explained

The appointment system now manages one counter: the Permit Office, which operates only at Abu Hamour. The Hotel Park branch does not have one.

When You Still Need a QDC Appointment

QDC lists five Permit Office services that must be pre-booked:

  • Collecting the card for a newly approved permit
  • Reporting a lost card and arranging a replacement
  • Adding a joint card holder, in practice your spouse
  • A Review Officer visit, if your online profile tells you to attend one
  • Requesting an increase to your monthly quota

When You Do Not Need an Appointment

  • Regular shopping at Abu Hamour or Hotel Park
  • Submitting a new permit application or renewing an existing one
  • Paying your permit fee, which goes through an emailed payment link
  • Placing a home delivery order

Do not rely on older guides for this

Many pages still describe a three option booking screen with Store Visit, Permit Renewal and New Permit, followed by an OTP. That flow belongs to the system QDC used from 2020 and has been replaced. Check the announcements page on qdc.com.qa to confirm the current position yourself.

How to Book a QDC Qatar Appointment Online

Booking applies to the Permit Office only, and runs through your QDC profile rather than a public form.

Step by Step Booking Process

  1. Go to www.qdc.com.qa. The site works on mobile, but uploads are easier on a laptop.
  2. Log in with your registered email address and password.
  3. Select Permit Office.
  4. Choose your service: card collection, lost card replacement, adding a joint card holder, a Review Officer visit, or a quota increase request.
  5. Pick an available date and time slot, then confirm.
  6. Keep the confirmation and bring your Qatar ID on the day.

If you have only just been approved, allow 15 to 30 minutes after approval for the site to update with your new permit details before booking.

How to Login to Your QDC Qatar Account

The QDC homepage is now a member login portal, with fields for your email address, password and a captcha, plus links to register and to recover a forgotten password.

Your profile is where you apply, upload documents, renew, view orders, book appointments and read messages from QDC. Treat the registered email address as permanent, because approvals, payment links and delivery confirmations all go there.

Joint card holders work differently. Once a joint card is approved, the main holder's permit number and QID are what get used to log in. The account stays single even though two people can shop on it.

If You Cannot Log In

  • Use the forgotten password link first. Profiles are not deleted when a permit expires.
  • If an application was declined, the same login still works. QDC asks you to reapply on it rather than creating a second profile.
  • If your mobile number or email has changed, update the profile, because notifications are tied to it.

QDC Qatar Permit Requirements 2026

To apply for a liquor permit, QDC's published criteria are:

  • Over 21 years of age
  • A non GCC citizen holding a valid Qatar Residence Permit, meaning a valid QID
  • A minimum basic salary of QAR 2,500 per month, excluding allowances
  • Resident in Qatar for a minimum of three months

The salary figure is the one most often reported wrongly. Plenty of sites still quote QAR 3,000. QDC's own FAQ document states QAR 2,500 basic, and it is basic pay that counts, not your total package. If you are unsure how your pay splits, our guide to the average salary in Qatar explains how Qatari salary structures are normally broken down.

If You Are on a Multi Entry Business Visa

Applicants without a QID are not automatically excluded. QDC considers some multi entry business visa holders case by case, with extra conditions: three months minimum residence, living in private accommodation or a hotel residential apartment rather than a short term hotel stay, and a supporting letter from a Qatar based employer or sponsor.

Speciality Food Only Permit

The food permit is free and lighter on paperwork. You qualify if you are over 21, a non GCC citizen, non Muslim, and hold a QID with at least three months validity. You submit a copy of your QID showing both sides and a passport sized photo on a plain background. Points worth knowing:

  • No fee, no quota limit, valid one year from the application date, and accepted at both stores
  • It does not allow alcohol purchases, which need a separate liquor permit
  • Food permit holders have no store access on Thursdays and shop Saturday to Wednesday
  • No joint cards, but other family members can apply individually and multiple permits per household are allowed
  • The card is ready 24 hours after approval, collected from Security Reception at Gate C Parking, Abu Hamour

Documents Required for a QDC Permit

The employer letter is where most applications fail, because QDC is specific about content and format. It must be a letter or NOC from your employer or sponsor, addressed to Qatar Distribution Company. If your company will not address letters to QDC, a "To Whom It May Concern" version is accepted. It has to state:

  • Your full name
  • Your QID or passport number
  • Your designation or position
  • A salary breakdown showing basic salary and allowances separately
  • Your accommodation entitlement, as either free housing or a monthly allowance

The letter must also be in English, dated within the last three months, on original company letterhead, signed by an authorised signatory and stamped.

You also need a valid copy of your QID, both sides, with at least three months validity left. If your card is near expiry, sort that first, and our guide on Qatar ID renewal covers the process and fees. QDC may additionally request bank statements, your employment contract, or a copy of the company's commercial registration.

Accommodation status matters more than people expect

The letter has to state your accommodation entitlement, and eligibility requires private accommodation or a hotel residential apartment. Applicants in shared company labour accommodation are generally not eligible, which is why the housing line is not a formality.

How to Apply for a New QDC Permit

QDC describes the application as four steps, all done from home:

  1. Visit www.qdc.com.qa and click Sign Up and Register Profile, entering details such as your name, date of birth, mobile number and address.
  2. Complete the application form and upload your Qatar ID front and back images plus your company or sponsor letter or NOC.
  3. Review your information and submit.
  4. Wait for a response. QDC asks you to allow three working days. If successful, a payment notification arrives by email.

Once payment clears, your card is produced and you book a Permit Office appointment to collect it. If your application is declined, QDC requires a wait of three months before reapplying, with a new set of documents, using the same login.

QDC Permit Fees and Validity in 2026

Fees depend on how many years of validity you take. Payment is by debit or credit card only, and the fee is not refundable.

Permit validityFee
1 yearQAR 150
2 yearsQAR 250
3 yearsQAR 350
4 yearsQAR 400

You do not get a free choice of duration, because your permit cannot outlast your Qatar ID:

QID validity remainingWhat you can do
1 to 2 monthsNot allowed. Renew your QID before applying or renewing
3 to 11 monthsPro rated licence fee for the full remaining QID validity
12 to 48 monthsChoose from 1 year up to full QID validity. Less than 12 months is not permitted here

Expiry shows in MM/YY format and the permit stays valid until the last day of that month. If you are unsure how long your QID has left, run a Qatar ID status check first.

How to Renew Your QDC Permit

Renewal is online at qdc.com.qa, and the paperwork depends on what has changed:

  • Nothing has changed with your employer or sponsorship: upload your renewed QID, front and back. That is all.
  • Something has changed, such as company, role, salary or accommodation: upload the full document set including a fresh employer letter.
  • You are under family sponsorship: a new employer letter and new QID are needed every time, and the QID must have more than three months validity.

Once approved, a payment link arrives by email. You must pay within 10 days or the renewal is automatically rejected and you restart with a complete document set. After payment you keep the same physical card, so there is nothing to collect. A joint card renews free of charge alongside the main permit.

An expired permit is not a walk in problem

If your permit has expired you cannot visit the Permit Office as a walk in customer to fix it. You have to renew and pay online first. The one concession is a single purchase within 30 days of the expiry date, after which the card stops working until renewed.

QDC Qatar Membership Card Explained

The card is the practical part of the permit, and QDC applies it strictly. Only main and joint card holders are allowed inside the shop. Guests, spouses without their own joint card, and children of any age are not admitted.

Joint Card for Your Spouse

One QDC account is issued per household, but you can add your spouse as a joint card holder:

  • Book a Permit Office appointment at Abu Hamour
  • Both of you must attend in person
  • Your spouse needs a valid QID
  • If your spouse is not under family sponsorship, bring a copy of your marriage certificate
  • The monthly quota is shared between you, not doubled

Lost, Forgotten or Cancelled Cards

If you lose your card, email permit@qdc.com.qa immediately so it can be disabled, then book a Permit Office appointment and bring your QID, Qatar driving licence or passport. If the permit is still valid you receive a new card under the same permit number with a new code. If it has expired, you must renew first.

Left the card at home while already in store? Speak to the security officer at reception, who can request a one day temporary pass. To cancel a permit, surrender the card at the Permit Office, or email permit@qdc.com.qa with your permit number and a photo of the card if you have already left Qatar.

How Your QDC Monthly Quota Works

Every liquor permit carries a monthly quota expressed in Qatari riyals rather than bottles. QDC states it is based on your monthly basic salary, and your figure appears on the confirmation letter and payment receipt emailed to you.

What QDC does not publish is the formula. A widely repeated claim puts it at ten percent of basic salary, but that comes from third party sites rather than QDC, so treat your own confirmation letter as the only reliable number. Three points that do come from QDC directly:

  • Food purchases are not deducted. The quota applies to liquor only
  • A quota increase can be requested, and it is a Permit Office service
  • For home delivery, quota is deducted when the order is placed and paid, not on the delivery date

QDC also runs promotions combining several months into one period. A triple quota ran from 1 January to 31 March 2026, and double quota periods have appeared before. These are announced rather than scheduled, so the updates page is the place to watch.

QDC Qatar Locations and Branches

Abu Hamour is the original and larger branch, off Wholesale Market Road near Safari Mall in Zone 56. It is the only branch with a Permit Office, so every appointment based service happens here, and new cards are collected from Security Reception at Gate C Parking.

Hotel Park, West Bay sits on Basement Level 1 of the Hotel Park car park, entered from Sheraton Road. It is reachable by vehicle only, worth knowing if you planned to arrive on foot or by metro. It sells to permit holders but handles no permit administration.

Both stores accept the same liquor and food permits. Confirm exact addresses through the Contact Us section of qdc.com.qa. Customer queries go to customerservice@qdc.com.qa, and permit or card matters to permit@qdc.com.qa.

QDC Qatar Opening Hours

Both branches changed hours recently, so times published elsewhere are often out of date. The current schedule announced by QDC:

StoreDaysHours
Abu HamourSaturday to Thursday10am to 10pm
Abu HamourFriday1pm to 10pm
Hotel ParkSaturday to Tuesday10am to 8pm
Hotel ParkWednesday and Thursday10am to 10pm
Hotel ParkFriday1pm to 10pm

QDC closes completely for the whole of Ramadan each year and announces the final shopping day in advance. For Ramadan 2026 that was 17 February, with a note it would shift to 16 February if Ramadan was declared a day earlier. Stores reopen after Eid. Short notice closures of a day or two also happen and are posted on the updates page.

QDC Permit Rules You Must Follow

These are conditions of holding the permit, and breaking them can cost you the permit with no refund:

  • Permits are for personal use only
  • You and the alcohol you buy must travel in the same vehicle
  • Purchases go directly to your residence, concealed from public view in transit
  • Alcohol is consumed at your residence only
  • Giving alcohol to another person, by sale or gift, is forbidden, including to other permit holders
  • You cannot buy anything without your permit card
  • Pork products are sold to non Muslims only
  • Any transfer seen on QDC premises means confiscation of goods and permits

QDC states that permits may be suspended or cancelled with no refund, and that management can refuse entry. Qatar's wider laws on alcohol apply outside the store as well, including drink driving and public consumption.

Final Summary

The QDC Qatar appointment system has shrunk. Shopping needs no booking at either store, and an appointment is required only for the five Permit Office services at Abu Hamour: collecting a new card, replacing a lost one, adding a joint card holder, attending a Review Officer visit, and requesting a quota increase.

Everything else happens online at qdc.com.qa. Applications take around three working days, fees run from QAR 150 for one year to QAR 400 for four, permit validity is capped by your QID, and your monthly quota comes from your basic salary and is printed on the confirmation emailed to you. Fees, hours and quota rules do change, and QDC posts those changes on its own updates page first, so it is worth a minute there before applying or renewing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I still need a QDC appointment to shop in Qatar?

No. QDC removed store visit appointments in April 2025. You can visit either the Abu Hamour or Hotel Park store during opening hours with your valid permit card. Appointments are only needed for the Permit Office at Abu Hamour.

What is the minimum salary for a QDC permit?

QDC requires a minimum basic salary of QAR 2,500 per month, excluding allowances. Many sites still quote QAR 3,000, but QDC’s own published FAQ states QAR 2,500 basic. Your employer letter must show basic salary and allowances separately so this can be checked.

How much does a QDC permit cost in 2026?

A one year permit costs QAR 150, two years QAR 250, three years QAR 350 and four years QAR 400. Payment is by debit or credit card only and the fee is not refundable. Your permit cannot run longer than your Qatar ID validity.

How long does a QDC permit application take?

QDC asks applicants to allow three working days for a response after submitting the online application. If it is approved, you receive a payment notification by email, and your card is collected from the Permit Office at Abu Hamour by appointment.

How is the QDC monthly quota calculated?

QDC states that the quota is based on your monthly basic salary but does not publish the formula. Your actual figure appears on the confirmation letter and payment receipt emailed to you after approval. Food purchases are not deducted from the liquor quota.

Can I renew my QDC permit online?

Yes. Renewals are done at qdc.com.qa. If nothing has changed with your employer or sponsorship, you only upload your renewed QID front and back. You must pay within 10 days of receiving the payment link or the application is automatically rejected.

What happens if my QDC permit expires?

You are entitled to one final purchase within 30 days of the expiry date. After that the card stops working until you renew. You cannot visit the Permit Office as a walk in to fix an expired permit, it must be renewed and paid for online first.

Can my spouse use my QDC card?

Only if they hold a joint card. You apply for one at the Permit Office with both of you present, and your spouse needs a valid QID. The monthly quota is shared between you rather than doubled. Guests, spouses without a joint card and children are not allowed inside the store.

Where are the QDC stores in Qatar?

There are two, both in Doha. Abu Hamour is off Wholesale Market Road near Safari Mall in Zone 56 and is the only branch with a Permit Office. The second is at Hotel Park in West Bay, on Basement Level 1 of the car park off Sheraton Road, accessible by vehicle only.

What are QDC opening hours?
